Dan Burns is a Nashville-based composer, songwriter, producer, and instrumentalist, known for his evocative compositions and distinctive drumming style. Raised around music, Dan’s early fascination with sound emerged in the resonant wooden sanctuary of a historic church, where he played drums alongside solo piano and honed his harmony skills in the church choir. His passion grew through high school, culminating in his role as timpanist for the American Youth Philharmonic and earning a scholarship to Belmont University.
At Belmont, Dan studied under renowned musicians Chester Thompson, Christopher Norton, and Derico Watson, graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Music in Performance. Over the years, he formed several bands, experimented with home recording techniques, and developed a singular voice in both composition and production, blending modern sounds with vintage instruments and engineering methods.
Dan’s work spans multiple media, including tv, games, and music collaborations. He has partnered with artists such as Louis Prince, Juan Solorzano, and Molly Parden, co-producing and releasing self-produced albums. As a music editor for Epic Games' Fortnite - Jam Stage, Dan mixes and implements licensed music for gameplay. His expertise extends to sound integration through Audiokinetic’s Wwise software and proficiency in Unreal and Unity engines.
